Family and Pet Friendly

Family Friendly
Although many college students depart Columbia for bigger cities after graduation, for many of those alumni, Columbia comes calling again when it is time to settle down. Sure, the memories made in our little Midwestern city are undoubtedly part of the reason, but the charm of a family-friendly lifestyle also comes into play. The range of events, quality of public and private education, childcare and safety all come together to make Columbia a place where families love to grow.

And now raising a family while growing a business just got a little easier, thanks to The Hatchery. This business is Columbia’s first and only co-working space with on-site childcare. Founded by mom, wife, and working woman Amanda Quick, The Hatchery allows working women with kids to build up their professional businesses in an affordable office space. How much more family-friendly can a working environment get?

Pet Friendly
Sometimes our closest friends have four paws. Pets have become, for many, part of the family, and it’s comforting to live in a community that fosters this idea. From parks to pubs, there are many places where our furry friends are welcome in Columbia. Summer days find Columbia dog parks full with pups and their people. Afterwards, Lizzie and Rocco’s is a pet paradise, with toys, food and treats galore. And don’t forget about those handy washing stations!
