Have you been Nourish Café and Market yet? This was one of the first questions that Kimber – owner and general manager, and Maura – chef of Nourish asked Columbia Farmers Market customers during their sampling event in mid-August. Many customers responded “No, but I’ve been meaning to try it.” Kimber and Maura were serving up samples of zucchini noodles topped with either Pesto made from Happy Hollow Farms zucchini and basil, or heirloom tomato marinara made from Potucek Farm tomatoes. On top, their secret cashew ricotta.
Housed in the old Jingo’s Chinese Restaurant location on Broadway, co-owners Kimber Dean and Kalle LeMone have transformed the space to be uplifting, inviting, and full of food to treat your body right. They’re offering food that is made from scratch, organic, locally-sourced, and nutrient-dense. Although their space in small at first glance, between the café, grab and go, and catering, Kimber relayed that they currently have 39 employees on staff.
The owners and employees of Nourish “…are obsessed with high quality ingredients, superfoods and creating delicious recipes that help our bodies thrive.” They cater to those eating a special diet and have a diverse menu that offers vegetarian and meat dishes to eat in house, or to grab from their cooler and take to go. Their entire menu is gluten-fee, soy, corn, and refined sugar free.
That obsession translates to a high level of commitment to sourcing as much product as they can from local producers – in turn, building sustainable relationships with farmers. Their menu regularly features dishes that include products sourced from Columbia Farmers Market vendors including: Goatsbeard Farm, Golden L Creamery, Happy Hollow Farm, Potucek Farm, and the Stanton Brothers. Additionally, their coffee comes from local roaster Z-Best Coffee, their beef from Covered L Farms, and their dairy from Ozark Mountain Creamery.
Open since June, customers have been raving in person and online about this new addition to the Columbia local food scene. One reviewer on Yelp states “Everything was so delicious. You can tell they use top notch ingredients and the fact that almost all ingredients are organic and local is such a plus. The ambiance and service are exceptional and we really enjoyed dining on their patio. A meal at Nourish really does leave you feeling energized and better off than when you walked in the door.”
