The Columbia Center for Urban Agriculture (CCUA) invites you to Empty Bowls. A free meal of soup, bread and water will be served to raise awareness of hunger in our community. Donations to this free Columbia-wide event will support the CCUA’s local food philanthropy project, Planting for the Pantry. Soup will be made by the Culinary Arts students from the Columbia Area Career Center and the bread will be donated by bleu Events. Donations made to Planting for the Pantry ensure that fresh local food from the Urban Farm is distributed to local food pantries, as well as support CCUA’s garden education programming. Anyone who donates at Empty Bowls will leave with a hand-made bowl, made and donated by students from Lee, Derby Ridge and Paxton Keely Elementary Schools, as well as volunteers from Access Arts and local artists.
