Run Into Your Holiday Weekend With The Heart of America Marathon

The 63rd annual Heart of America Marathon is back and ready to take on Labor Day. The second oldest continuously running marathon in the U.S is set for Monday, Sept. 5 at the Boone County History and Culture Center, 3801 Ponderosa St.

Runners will start at 6 a.m. and will have a six-hour time limit to complete the marathon. The course is 26.2 miles, starting at the Boone County History and Culture Center. The participants will run 11 miles down to the Katy Trail and 1.5 miles along the Missouri River past Cooper’s Landing and the historic community of Easley. Runners will then wind uphill on Route N, passing the Pierpont General Store before passing Rock Bridge State Park and heading back toward Columbia.

Marathon registration is closed; however, everyone is welcome to join the celebration at the finish line at the Boone County History and Culture Center. For more information, visit heartofamericamarathon.com.
