Event Details

The University of Missouri School of Medicine Department of Pathology and Anatomical Sciences and Columbia Public Schools are partnering to host the fifth annual Dinosaurs and Cavemen Science Expo sponsored by the National Science Foundation.

The free event will feature a presentation by vertebrate paleontologist Jack Horner at 10:30 a.m. Horner worked as the technical adviser for all of the “Jurassic Park” films and made a cameo appearance in “Jurassic World.” Horner will discuss “Dinosaur Accoutrements: Why Dinosaurs Had Horns, Spikes, Plates and Other Paraphernalia.” Interim Chancellor Hank Foley has awarded Horner the University of Missouri Chancellor’s Distinguished Visitor Award.

Other activities include cave painting, making dinosaur tracks and mapping a fossil quarry.

Additional sponsors of the event include the MU College of Arts and Science’s Donald M. Nelson Lectureship Fund and Saturday Morning Science.
