Weekends are a great time to visit some of the nearby communities, and Saturdays are especially good for a visit to Rocheport.

Throughout the year, the Rocheport Area Merchants Association holds Second Saturdays, which are free to attend, as a way to support local businesses and attract new shoppers to the area. On Saturday, May 14, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Rocheport will host its Local Legends themed Second Saturday. Inside Rocheport Community Hall, 503 Third St., mid-Missouri vendors will display their talents, from painting and woodworking to jewelry making and crochet.

Area retail shops also will host a “Not-So-Local Legends” scavenger hunt, where participants can pick up a card at participating retail shops to find all the legends. Turning in the completed card gives participants a chance to win two VIP tickets to the Rocheport Stroll on Sept. 17. There also will be blacksmith demonstrations at Art and Antiques, 605 Third St. and a ribbon cutting for Barth Community Garden on Central Street at 11 a.m.
