Lock’s Family Opens Bar & Grill

By Inside Columbia
The Banded Rooster Bar & Grill in Kingdom City

Drew Lock’s aunt, Becky Wright, and her husband, Casey, opened their new restaurant, the Banded Rooster Bar & Grill, two months ago. Chef Jared Schaefer, who was a well-known chef in Columbia, created the menu for the Kingdom City restaurant. Lock began his collegiate career at MU before being selected in 2019 by the Denver Broncos. In March, he was traded to the Seattle Seahawks.

The Wrights renovated a bar that was previously located at the site of the new restaurant. The design is reminiscent of an old-style salon, complete with a full-length bar, wood beams and a corrugated metal ceiling. You can order “outlaw sandwiches,” “saloon girl salads” or “gunslinger burgers.” Chef Schaefer also offers a daily special. For dessert, Casey suggests the smoked pecan pie, which is made with Missouri pecans, smoked in-house and topped with lime infused whipped cream and bacon bits.

Casey grew up in Calwood, just 10 miles away from the restaurant, which is located on the old U.S. Highway 40.
