Hosted by the Boone Regional Beekeepers Association (BRBA), this introductory class teaches the basics of selecting a location, obtaining bees, hive assembly and first-year expectations.

The class will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday at the Animal Science Research Center (920 E. Campus Drive). The course agenda covers subjects including: bee biology, diseases and pests, equipment and clothing, hive building, location planning and obtaining bees.

Each participant will receive a beekeeping book, lunch/snacks, a one-year membership to BRBA and entry in drawings for various prizes.
