Bertha’s Beans Cat Cafe Celebrates Soft Opening

By Inside Columbia
Cat yawning next to coffee cup

For cat lovers and future owners alike, the wait is over for a new local cat café! Bertha’s Beans Cat Café celebrates their soft opening today through Monday. The business renovated the space over a three-month timeframe from the previous business, Papa’s Cat Café. This weekend, community members can walk in as Bertha’s is still working on their website and reservation system.

In a Facebook Live video on their page, the business previewed the new space for viewers and showed off a few of their feline friends. All cats at the café are from Second Chance. Also, fans of Freddy from the I-70 Lizzi and Rocco’s Natural Pet Market can now find him snuggled up at the café.

The business’ namesake, Bertha, was the first Lizzi and Rocco’s store cat. She passed away this past spring. Beans, the resident cat of Bertha’s Beans, can be found by her one orange and one blue eye.

Hours of the soft opening are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today to Monday. Normal business hours will begin the following week from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. You can find them at 14 S. 2nd Street in Columbia. For more information on the café, visit their Facebook page.
