We can all agree Columbia has experienced some overwhelming heat this summer, but have you ever wondered what areas are the hottest? This Friday, people are welcome to participate in a one-day community science project hosted by the city of Columbia Office of Sustainability.

Show Me the Heat: Columbia Heat Map 2022 is scheduled for 9 a.m.-noon Saturday at the Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Senior Services building at 1005 W. Worley St.

This project’s goal is to take the first steps to tackling urban heat by identifying the hottest neighborhoods in Columbia. People who attend will be helping launch the weather balloon, which is used to collect data, into the sky The event also will include the opportunity to do some mural painting, as well as food and other family activities.

For more information, visit the Show Me the Heat event page on Facebook.
