Explore the History and Legacy of Read Hall

By Bailey Rizzo
main

Read Hall, the first women’s dormitory at the University of Missouri, was demolished in 2022 as part of a broader campus redevelopment project. CoMo Preservation and the university will co-sponsor an event at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Memorial Student Union (Room N204).

This presentation will explore the history, meaning and lasting significance of Read Hall, highlighting the perspectives of multiple generations of MU students:

  • Michelle Teti, Associate Dean, Honors College
  • Jordan Pellerito, Program Manager, Kinder Institute on Constitutional Democracy
  • Ever Cole, M.A. Journalism ’26, B.J. Strategic Communications ’25

Read Hall’s legacy has been honored through a risograph-printed zine, a project mapping installation and a virtual reality experience. The talk, which is free to attend, brings together diverse principles to reflect on the past and imagine the future of women’s spaces on campus.
