Real Tree? Real Easy

By Inside Columbia

If your Christmas included trimming a real tree, then you’ll be glad to hear how you go about disposing of it. No, the city can’t help you with all those niggling needles you’ll keep finding for months, but otherwise you can easily be tree-free.

The city offers several different live tree disposal options: Now through Jan. 31, you can get free tree pick-up when your bare tree’s put out with your black-bagged trash on your designated pick-up day. After that, the tree must be cut to fit inside an official city refuse bag. In addition, you can recycle your tree at either of the yard waste drop-off centers or by taking it directly to the city’s compost operation at 5700 Peabody Road (near the landfill).

You can also recycle Christmas lights.
