44 Canteen Brings Back a Crowd-Favorite

By Jane Steinbrecher

Back by popular demand, the Blackened Shrimp & Dirty Rice taco has a temporary spot on 44 Canteen’s menu once again.

The shrimp is blackened and seared to perfection, then wrapped in a fresh, warm flour tortilla, surrounded by chorizo dirty rice and drizzled with creole remoulade, a decadent horseradish-based hot sauce. The tacos are topped with sliced lemon and fresh parsley.

If these tacos are calling your name, 44 Canteen is open every day but Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. (closing at 9:30 p.m. on Fridays) at 21 N. 9th St. The restaurant will also be closed Oct. 27-30, but there’s plenty of time to grab a plate of tacos before then.
