A new pizza business is hitting the Columbia food scene for Pi-Day! Old School Pizza took pre-orders in early March for their first pop-up at Beet Box on Thursday, March 14.

In a social media post on March 4, the business announced its first pre-order pop-up, as well as its owner and chef, Jody Schomaker. “You can take the boy out of the pizza shop, but you can’t take the pizza shop out of the boy,” the post states.

They specialize in square pizzas and on March 6, they announced their first pizza menu. The menu included the absolem with mushrooms, roasted garlic, and fresh rosemary, made with BLH Farm mushrooms; the burrata with burrata, EVOO and fresh basil; lil bop with house-cured and smoked bacon, caramelized sweet onion and spicy cured peppers made with Sullivan Farms pork belly; the pepe made with Barred Owl pepperoni that has been cured, fermented and smoked; and the wilbur with a house blend sweet Italian pork sausage made with Sullivan Farms ground pork.

All pizzas are $12. As of March 7, all time slots had been sold out except for 7:45 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
