Women to Watch 2025: Ashley Perry

By Inside Columbia

Like many fields of work, the towing industry has traditionally been a male-dominated business. As the co-owner and president of Doug Perry Towing, Ashley Perry says she dealt with challenges breaking into the industry as a woman. “I initially faced assumptions that I was less knowledgeable or involved just because I’m a woman,” she says. “I addressed this by diving in headfirst — learning the hands-on aspects, mastering operations, dispatch and employee engagement.”

Flash forward, and now Perry is part of the team that has brought in several community honors, including winning Best of Columbia three years in a row. “This shows expertise, resilience and character define leadership, not gender!”

Perry says now more than ever is the perfect time for women to be in the towing industry. “We’re at a turning point where more women are stepping into roles that were once considered off-limits — from dispatch and operations to truck driving and ownership,” Perry says. “Technology is leveling the playing field, and professionalism, not physical strength, is now the true measure of success.”

Being able to be a “Woman to Watch” represents so much more than breaking barriers in the towing industry. “It’s about bringing others along, uplifting your team and setting the tone for how business can be done differently — with empathy, excellence and authenticity,” she says.

Whether you are looking for inspiration or just in need of a helping hand when out on the road, Perry and her team are here to help. “We’re more than just tow trucks — we’re a family-run business with a deep commitment to doing right by people on their worst days. Whether someone’s stranded on the side of the road or navigating a stressful accident, we don’t just show up — we show them we care!”
