As a woman in the home-improvement industry, a traditionally male- dominated field, Jaclyn Rogers has learned how to make her voice heard and take initiative. Through consistency, professionalism and showing her expert knowledge of the craft, Rogers has earned the trust of her clients that isn’t often given as easily to women in construction-related industries.
“I’ve also had to navigate communication dynamics where I’ve needed to assert my voice a little more to be taken seriously,” Rogers says. “But rather than let those moments discourage me, I’ve used them as opportunities to build credibility, advocate for more inclusive perspectives and open doors for other women in the trades.”
Rogers cites her boss, Lacie Ilsley, as a key mentor in her journey. She’s been challenged and encouraged to step into leadership roles and shown how to lead with integrity. Rogers is the incoming chair-elect for the Women’s Network, vice president of the Business Network International Chapter of Columbia, a chamber ambassador and a graduate from Leadership Columbia. But it’s never been about recognition. For Rogers, it’s all about growth, giving back and providing excellent work. Rogers is a shining example of passion in her field — she has always enjoyed working with people and creating positive experiences, so she found a perfect fit for these strengths in the home-improvement industry. She understands the transformative power of painting to give the client their ideal space. The mission of Ai Painting Plus is and always has been “paint joy into people’s homes.”
Rogers is hopeful for the future and says painting is a bright and colorful industry for female leaders. Her advice? “Don’t wait for permission — show up, speak up and own your space,” she says. “Learn the craft, lead with confidence and never underestimate the value you bring just by being you. And most importantly, find a network of people who support you and challenge you to grow. You belong here.”
