Historically, the field of insurance has been male-dominated. “To break in and achieve what was necessary, and to be seen as credible, you cannot be afraid to work hard,” Nichols says. “You have to show people how much you care and let them know that you will have their back.”
Nichols has been inspired since she was 16 years old to pursue a career that changes people’s lives. She knows that sometimes she has to be a rock for her clients when something unexpected happens, so she works to be that, whether it be protecting their home, auto or lives. Choosing an insurance agent to protect these important things is a huge step — one that requires a lot of trust. She says it is a privilege to protect her clients against unexpected circumstances and to do her best to create a trustworthy wall of protection for you.
As for women interested in pursuing the insurance field, Nichols says the sky is the limit. “I see the future as very bright,” she says. “Women by nature are very nurturing and in this business, that can take you a long way. You can be all that you want to be!”
She advises that aspiring agents find one mentor early on that you can share ideas and compare notes with at all times. For Nichols, her role model was her mom. She faced a lot of adversity but continued to put one foot in front of the other without giving up, inspiring Nichols to do the same.
“Being a ‘Woman to Watch’ is someone who is not afraid of failure or rejection because they know that it is one step closer to success,” Nichols says. “I hope that I am able to inspire young women to seek the opportunities that I have had in the insurance arena.”
