There is officially a new Asian dessert shop in downtown Columbia. My Sweet Parlor is a locally owned shop in Columbia, located at 1020 E. Broadway, suite G. While the store is open, planning is underway for a grand opening. Currently the first floor is open to the public. Owner Pranlada Chompupong says the next step is to renovate the second floor as soon as possible.
The dessert shop offers bingsu, a milk-based Korean shaved ice dessert with different toppings. The shop also makes different cakes, including coconut cake, orange cake, crepe cakes and more. Different toasts are available on the menu, including honey toast, strawberry toast, matcha toast and Nutella toast.
Chompupong says the community has been supportive throughout the soft opening process. “Many people have come in and checked out our shop and our business is starting to pick up. We are a small, locally owned business, so any support from the community is very much appreciated,” she says.
If you don’t want a homemade dessert, you can also try a variety of coffee, tea and other small dishes. “We are hoping that our store can be a place where people choose to hang out with their friends and family,” Chompupong says. Other then the regular menu, My Sweet Parlor will also have a special item out monthly. The special item for February will be a heart-shaped red velvet cake for Valentine’s Day.
My Sweet Parlor is open from 10:30 a.m.-8 p.m. every day but closed Wednesday. The shop is currently hiring. For more information, visit My Sweet Parlor on Instagram.
