BBQ Boo Hoo

By Inside Columbia

One of Columbia’s bastions of barbecue bid adieu this past Saturday, Jan. 8. Lutz’s Barbecue, reknowned for not only its ‘cue but also its craveable crispy made-in-house chips, is no longer open here in town, after a ten-year run. The  good news? Lutz’s Jefferson City location is still able to fill catering needs.

Burl Lutz started out in 2000 with a trailer and a barbecue pit, trying to drum up business serving his savory smoked fare in Jefferson City parking lots. He opened a brick and mortar barbecue joint in 2007, and his Columbia location in 2012.
