Gallery Crawl Set for Friday

By Inside Columbia
MusicArtAndMore

With the arrival of June comes First Friday in the North Village Art District.

Set for 6-9 p.m. Friday, the free gallery crawl is held on the first Friday of each month, with live music, art and entertainment going on throughout the North Village Arts District. Participating venues include the Sager Reeves Gallery, Fretboard Coffee, Curations 573, Artlandish Gallery, DogMaster Distillery, Serendipity, Orr Street Studios, Rose Music Hall, Coming Home and more. Each location will have a map/guide available for navigating the area.

One of the participating venues is returning after what was thought to be its final event last month. Dogwood Artist Workspace & Gallery had announced early last month that the gallery’s lease for the space in the alley south of Walnut Street was terminating at the end of May. Though owners Steph Foley and Sasha Goodnow were meeting with the property owner to request more time, they were not optimistic as there are already plans for Willie’s Bar to expand into the existing Dogwood space.

But in mid-May, Dogwood announced that they were granted a few more months in their existing space to better prepare and find a new location. Which means Dogwood is returning to First Friday, at least for a little longer.
