Enjoy some pre weekend yucks at The Blue Note on Thursday, Feb. 10, during a CoMo Comedy Club event, starring a nationally known comic who has released three stand-up specials, appeared on late night shows, TV series and more.

Funny man Todd Barry’s latest one-hour stand-up special is “Spicy Honey” for Netflix. Barry has appeared on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” “The Late Show with David Letterman,” “Conan” and “Late Night With Seth Meyers.”  His acting credits include “The Wrestler,””Road Trip,” Flight of the Concords,” “Chappelle’s Show,” Spin City” and “”Sex and the City.”

You may have heard his voice on the animated series “Bob’s Burgers,” “Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist” and “Aqua Teen Hunger Force.””

Barry is also the author of the critically-acclaimed 2017 travel memoir Thank You For Coming To Hattiesburg.

You can catch him live tonight at 7 p.m. at The Blue Note. Are you aware of the many benefits of a good guffaw? According to the Mayo Clinic, a hearty ha ha has great short-term effects. When you start to laugh, it doesn’t just lighten your load mentally, it actually induces physical changes in your body. It can:

  • Stimulate organs. Laughter enhances your intake of oxygen-rich air, stimulates your heart, lungs and muscles, and increases the endorphins released by your brain.
  • Activate and relieve your stress response. A rollicking laugh fires up then cools down your stress response, and it can increase then decrease your heart rate and blood pressure. The result? A good, relaxed feeling.
  • Soothe tension. Laughter can also stimulate circulation and aid muscle relaxation, both of which can help reduce some of the physical symptoms of stress.

Laughter isn’t just a quick pick-me-up, though. It’s also good for you over the long term. So make sure to keep a good laugh on the “ha”-rizon!
