Students and community members who enjoy the Mizzou Rec Complex are preparing for a new outdoor fitness space to take over Truman Pond.

In July, Mizzou Rec announced the new outdoor facility, saying there were many maintenance issues with Truman Pond. Another factor was the desire to have something that could be open to members for more than six months out of the year.

Mizzou Rec says the new outdoor fitness space will have many benefits for members, including more workout space, year-round access and new equipment, activities and fitness programs.

Some of the new equipment will include squat racks, tires and weighted sleds, as well as shade canopies to provide protection from the weather.

Mizzou Rec plans to open the new space in April 2023.
