Several places in Columbia are changing their schedules or canceling events this week due to the extreme heat.

Jest Jeff’s has changed its hours for the week due to the heat. According to the announcement on Facebook, the kitchen will close at 1 p.m. every day for the safety of the employees.

The Loop has canceled the Fourth Food Truck Rally this week because of the hot temperatures. It says customers can join on Sept. 22 for the next food truck rally. Cooper’s Landing Riverside Resort & Marina has also canceled events for today and Thursday due to the heat. According to a post on Facebook, the general store will remain open for anyone who needs to cool off from the trail.

According to the National Weather Service, an excessive heat warning is in place for mid-Missouri until 10 p.m. Friday. The combination of extreme heat and humidity is resulting in heat index values up to 115 degrees this week.
