January is National Blood Donor Month. So many times, other health crises, such as the pandemic, take the focus. But Boone County’s recent spate of fatal car crashes only highlights the need for ongoing blood donations. The dangerously low blood supply levels have forced some hospitals to defer patients from major surgery, including organ transplants. Time is literally ticking for many patients in need of life-saving procedures, and blood donations are desperately needed.
The American Red Cross and the NFL are partnering during National Blood Donor Month, to invite football fans and blood donors to join their lifesaving team. To thank donors for helping during a time when the Red Cross blood supply is at historically low levels, those who give in the month of January will automatically be entered to win two tickets to Super Bowl LVI in Los Angeles, California.
