Council Swears in New Police Chief

Jill Schlude was sworn in last night at the city council meeting as the new police chief for the city of Columbia. 

Jill Schlude has been working with the Columbia Police Department since 2005 as an assistant police chief, the deputy chief of police, a police sergeant and a police officer.

According to a press release from the city, Schlude is proud to be starting this journey as police chief. “Stepping into the role of police chief is not just a promotion; it’s a commitment to safeguarding our community, administering justice fairly and leading our dedicated team with unwavering integrity. I am equally honored and humbled at the opportunity to serve my community in this important role,” Schlude says in the press release.
