Matt Unrein Elevated to Deputy City Manager

The city of Columbia has announced a new deputy city manager. Matt Unrein started the position on April 29 after working as the assistant city manager since February.

According to a press release from the city of Columbia, before coming to Columbia, Unrein worked as the assistant city administrator and public works director in Festus, he was the assistant city manager and public works and parks director in Ferguson, he worked as the city administrator of Arnold, the assistant city manager of Maryville and began his career in the community development department of Independence.

This role for the city contributes strategic leadership to multiple city departments, encompassing public works, parks and recreation and utilities. According to the press release, Unrein is looking forward to bringing all his knowledge to this new role. “I appreciate the opportunity to help pave the way forward for future initiatives and to provide support for City Manager Seewood as our organization and city continue to grow,” Unrein says in the press release.
