A new chiropractic office had its grand opening in Columbia on Saturday. Dr. Makenzie Schouten, owner and chiropractor at Vera Chiropractic, says her new practice focuses on pediatric and prenatal care. “It has been awesome to fill that need for Columbia,” she says. Shouten, who recently had her first baby, says chiropractic care changed her pregnancy. “I could not imagine going though pregnancy without chiropractic care.”
Schouten moved to Columbia in September to settle down and open her new business. In March, Schouten says, she had a soft opening with the grand opening following just a month later, and the community has been nothing but supportive. “It has been incredible, we were overwhelmed with support,” she says.
Now her practice is open to the public from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. and 3 p.m.-6 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays and 3 p.m.-6 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays. “We use a very gentle, specific technique,” she says. “Our emphasis is to make sure our patients are comfortable and know exactly what we are doing.”
Schouten says the company name, Vera Chiropractic, means truth, “so we are based on truth that our bodies were meant to heal themselves,” she says.
