Local yoga studio alleyCat has announced plans to move from its space at 17 N. Fourth St. by the end of May.

In a blog post, studio owner Susan Mathis says the studio will close its Fourth Street location at noon May 25. On June 1, the studio will reopen its physical space in a room inside First Baptist Church at 1112 E. Broadway. Classes will be held online in the interim period.

In the post, Mathis says the move is partly due to not being able to renew the lease on the existing spot, as the property owner has other plans. But, she says, the pandemic also put a strain on the business as rent increased and “student engagement” decreased. “Continuing in this manner is not sustainable; the time to pivot is now,” Mathis says.
