Pink Pumpkin Painting Party To Encourage Mammograms

By Inside Columbia

Every October through Breast Cancer Awareness Month, women are encouraged to schedule mammograms in order to catch early signs of the disease. In Columbia, people will have the opportunity to create unique reminders at Alisha’s Pink Pumpkin Painting Party this weekend at MU Jefferson Farm and Garden, 4800 E. New Haven Road.

From 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, people are welcome to come to the farm and paint your own pumpkin, for a $10 donation to Ellis Fischel Cancer Center. Each participant will receive a card to “remind a lady you care about to get her mammogram or schedule yours today,” and decorate a pink, black, silver or white pumpkin. The goal is for each participant to then deliver their pumpkin to someone who needs a friendly reminder.

For more information on the pink party, visit the event page on Facebook.
