Como Smoke & Fire is one step closer to opening a second location in Columbia, where Buckingham Smokehouse Bar-B-Q once was. One of the owners of Como Smoke & Fire, Christy Hawkins, said the city approved the plans for renovation in the beginning of July, and demolition in the kitchen area started around July 11.

Buckingham’s officially closed on April 16, after 24 years of being in business, handing the torch to Como Smoke & Fire.

Hawkins says she is hoping the second location will open in October, but it depends on the timing of ordering and receiving supplies.

Como Smoke & Fire recently won gold for Best Barbecue  in the 2022 Best of Columbia. You can find the full list of winners on our website.

Editor’s Note: This article has been updated to clarify that only the kitchen area is seeing demolition as part of the overall renovation process.
