Helping Students Through Barbecue
Fundraiser to Send Local Students to National Competition Set for May 4.
Is there anything better than barbecue? How about helping local students by eating barbecue?
The Columbia Area Career Center has announced a BBQ fundraiser from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. and 4:30-6:30 p.m. May 4 to support six local students who are advancing to nationals following a great showing at the SkillsUSA Missouri State Conference. The students advancing to the National Leadership & Skills Conference in June in Atlanta are:
- Eli Hanson for culinary arts;
- Dora Grafakos for commercial baking;
- Johnathan Imboden and Christopher King for 3D visualization and animation; and
- Judah Robbins Bernal and Owen Kington for interactive web application and video game development.
The fundraiser will offer meals for $7 each that include a pulled pork sandwich, coleslaw, potato salad, baked beans and chocolate chip cookie. Pick up will be done in a drive thru format at CACC and pre-order is strongly suggested as they will not be able to guarantee food availability for those who walk up. To pre-order, click here.
